“For the Happiness of All Mankind,”

That is what they tell us.

To labor is to be free,

To find man’s species being,

Among the ashes of hope.

To be saved by faith alone,

Or by the love of selfless sacrifice.

To do what must be done,

Regardless of the cost.

We castigate ourselves,

Beings of cruelly dealt fate.

To bleed from invisible cuts,

Stinging like opium dreams.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions,

But heavens gates are barred with the deeds ill-gotten fortune.
